A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.
— John Lennon

John had quite a few lines that hit the nail on the head. However, this one in particular applies extremely well in my case, or I should say our case, because the dream of an old to-be-renovated farmhouse in the countryside became a step closer to reality when we decided to move to France earlier than previously planned.
There are multiple reasons that lead to the situation, nevertheless the only important one is that we realized we are not getting any younger (truth hurts) and that we still have a dream to follow – luckily we both agree on the fact that things shouldn’t be postponed to later because the “later” may never come. This said, living in the moment is the rule; we’ve packed our belongings here and there (mainly New York, Djibouti, and Finland) and are headed to south of France as we speak.
This will definitely start a new chapter for us, an adventure with surely loads of headache, frustration, and even some disappointment i am sure, but I am confident that also many a fun moments, excitement, and joy.
Although I haven’t decided on the format yet, we’ll surely be somehow documenting the journey of the “Deux Pierres” (which were the first words that one of us came up with when we got tired of using the “guesthouse” as a name for a project that no longer was even supposed to be merely a guesthouse). And we will hopefully have as many of you join us along, either online or even better: on spot!
A tout a l’heure et bisous a tous, s & n
ps. there’s a scrap book I keep for ideas and inspiration, which I’ll gladly share and even will be even more happy if you have some tips you would like to pass on!
pps. the below collage is just a mood board from images around the web, but if you want (and dare) to see what the hunt has really been like, go ahead and explore here!
